As the 2014 season draws to a close, it’s time to start looking towards 2015. As we shared a few weeks back, next year’s headlining addition will be a handful of major changes coming to Kings Dominion’s water park, WaterWorks. Well today we have some additional information regarding that project but that’s not all this post will contain. We also seem to have uncovered something the park hadn’t announced just yet. Anyway, we’ll get to that in a few minutes. First off, WaterWorks news…

2015 WaterWorks Expansion

The map above is the first look we’ve been given at what all is happening at WaterWorks next season. As you can see, they’re actually doing quite an impressive amount of work. In addition to the slide structure the park focused on in their main announcement, Kings Dominion is also adding a new kids area called Splash Island, expanding the bath house behind the Dodgems building, constructing a new bathhouse next to Pipeline Peak, adding a volleyball court, and lastly, building restrooms next to both Zoom Flume and Tidal Wave Bay. It’s rather impressive honestly.
Anyway, the new WaterWorks details are nice, but that’s not the big news in today’s post. What is you ask? Well, we seem to have uncovered something new in Safari Village…

Safari Village

In the top left corner of the WaterWorks map above there seems to have a new structure in front of Backlot Stunt Coaster. We’ve included two closer pictures of it below.

What is it you ask? Well, it seems to be the fabled Safari Village stage! It appears that the new stage will be placed in what is currently an outdoor seating area located in front of Backlot Stunt Coaster.  By the looks of the site plan above, the stage appears to be equipped with shade structures and log-themed walls that will stay visually consistent with Safari Village’s other buildings.
As many of you likely know by now, Halloween Haunt will feature a brand new show named Skeleton Crew. According to the park’s website, it is to take place on the Safari Village Stage. Seeing that this stage doesn’t actually exist yet, that seems like it will be a bit of a problem. I have to believe that a temporary stage will likely be built in the area above for Haunt with the intention of replacing it with the full structure above next season.
